The Theiss lab hosted Bhawana Paudel, a recent graduate from CU Boulder, as a part of the Cancer Research Experience for Undergraduates (CREU), University of Colorado Cancer Center.

Our postdoc, Zhantao Yu, participated in the event "Postdoc Research Day: Becoming Agents of Change" at CU Anschutz with DO student Elena Reshetnikoff. Their poster entitled "Paneth Cell Derived IL-18 Rescues DSS-induced Colitis" was awarded second place in the Basic Sciences Poster Competition.

Arianne Theiss was awarded the 2024 Raj and Prem Goyal Award Lectureship in Pathophysiology of Gastrointestinal and Liver Disease.

This prestigious award is given by the American Physiological Society (APS). She will be a lecturer, with her lecture focused on the role of mitochondria in the intestinal epithelium in driving inflammation and central to the innate immunity of Paneth cells.

Grecia Rivera passed her Comprehensive Exam and became a PhD candidate for the Department of Immunology and Microbiology. She will continue her research focusing on the mitochondrial protein Prohibitin 1 and how it affects Salmonella Typhimurium in the GI tract.
